The Central New Jersey (NJ) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, chartered on May 28, 1949 is a premier service organization committed to sustaining and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Celebrating nearly 70 years of proud service, we have provided over $20,000 in scholarships and over 80,000 volunteer hours to the youth in our area through targeted programs that address the critical needs of our communities. In 2017, we launched a long-term initiative with Urban Promise Trenton, a local non-profit organization aimed at equipping at-risk youth with the necessary skills for academic achievement and community leadership. In addition to awarding scholarships for these young adults to pursue higher education, we plan to offer a wide range of impactful programming throughout the year, including writing seminars, international workshops, career fairs, leadership programs, cultural excursions, academic tutoring, and a host of other programs to prepare them for personal and academic excellence.
The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of nearly 15,000 professional women of color in 288 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
